What is Rotary?
Rotary is a global organization of united leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. (Rotary is a non-religious, non- political organization)
Object of Rotary
The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
First: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
Second: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
Third: The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.
Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service.
The Four Way Test of the Things We Think, Say and Do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned
The Five Avenues of Service
A Rotarian may be of service through any of these five avenues:
1. Club Service
2. Community Service
3. Vocational Service
4. International Service
5. New Generations Service
